AT&T and T-Mobile Open iPhone Duo Pre-Order Deals With Trade-Ins, Bill Credits
Apple has opened pre-orders for the iPhone Duo, and U.S. carriers are already competing for buyers with iPhone Duo pre-order deals built around trade-ins, plan requirements, and monthly bill credits. AT&T and T-Mobile both published promotions today, each offering headline discounts that depend on which device you trade in and which plan you choose.
AT&T’s tiered trade-in offers

AT&T advertises up to $1,200 off the iPhone Duo with an eligible trade-in, but that top figure comes with several conditions. The device being traded in must be worth at least $230, the customer must activate a new line or upgrade an existing one, and the line must be on the Premium 2.0 plan or higher. AT&T spreads the discount across 36 months as bill credits.
Smaller credits are available at lower tiers. A $930 discount requires the Extra 2.0 plan and a trade-in valued at $130 or more. The $500 tier calls for the Value 2.0 plan and the same $130-plus trade-in. Customers on an unlimited plan who trade in a device worth between $35 and $129 can receive up to $350 off. Each of these amounts is also delivered as bill credits over 36 months.
Switchers get an additional incentive: AT&T will pay off up to $800 of a current device balance. Separately, orders placed online save $200 per line.
T-Mobile’s plan-based discounts
T-Mobile’s highest offer is up to $1,000 off with an any-condition trade-in, but only on the Experience Beyond plan. The carrier also offers up to $830 off with a trade-in on the Experience More or Experience Beyond plans. For most other plans, adding a new line qualifies for up to $730 off. Like AT&T, T-Mobile applies these discounts as bill credits over 36 months.
What to compare before ordering
The advertised maximums are not automatic. AT&T’s $1,200 figure hinges on a trade-in worth at least $230, a premium plan, and a new line or upgrade. T-Mobile’s $1,000 figure requires the Experience Beyond plan and an any-condition trade-in. Neither carrier has disclosed full terms, expiration dates, or whether these offers can be combined with other promotions. iPhone Duo pricing and release date were not included in the announcements.
