HP ZBook Ultra G3a Puts AMD’s 16-Core Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 and 192GB RAM in a 16-Inch Workstation

HP has added a new AMD-based model to its mobile workstation lineup with the HP ZBook Ultra G3a, a 16-inch machine built on AMD’s Gorgon Halo platform. The top processor is the Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495, and the hardware supports as much as 192GB of RAM — though that ceiling is not available in every market.

Processor options and AI throughput

The Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 carries 16 Zen 5 cores and 32 threads, and HP also offers the Ryzen AI Max Pro 480 and 490. AMD rates the flagship chip at up to 132 TOPS for local AI work, a figure that matters for buyers planning to run models, agents or data-science workloads on the machine itself rather than in the cloud.

Graphics come from an integrated Radeon 8065S with 40 RDNA 3.5 compute units. In configurations fitted with 192GB of memory, the GPU can claim up to 160GB of that total as VRAM — an unusually large pool for an integrated design, and one aimed at workloads that would otherwise need a discrete graphics card with its own memory.

Memory, storage and regional limits

The memory story is not uniform across regions. In the US, the base configuration combines the Ryzen AI Max Pro 480 with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD, while the top US model steps up to the Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 with 128GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. The full 192GB capacity is reserved for the UK and Germany, where the top chip can be paired with the maximum memory.

UK pricing for the 192GB configuration is £9,642.06, and the same memory tier costs €16,625.53 in Germany. Entry points differ as well: UK buyers start at £4,383.11 for a 32GB machine, while the German range opens at €6,166.62 with 128GB.

Displays split by market

HP fits a 16-inch IPS panel across the line, but the specifications diverge by region. The base screen is a 1920×1200 unit rated at 400 nits with 100% sRGB coverage. US buyers can move up to a 2560×1600 panel with 100% DCI-P3 and a 120Hz refresh rate. In Europe, the higher option reaches 3840×2400 at 500 nits — a sharper panel than anything offered in the US.

Ports, battery and positioning

Connectivity includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a 10Gbps USB-C port, USB-A, HDMI 2.1, an SD card reader and a headphone jack. Every configuration carries a 96Wh battery, which HP says is good for all-day use.

The ZBook Ultra G3a follows HP’s earlier Nvidia Spark-powered laptops and broadens the company’s AMD workstation range. Buyers weighing it against HP’s own OmniBook Ultra will notice the price gap: that model, with a 20-core Nvidia Spark chip, 128GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, is listed at $5,309.99. The ZBook Ultra G3a starts at $3,149 in the US and reaches $7,999 at the top of the range.

HP is selling the machine in the US, UK and Germany.
