Apple HomeView Leak Reveals Smart Hub, New HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K Ahead of October 13 Event

Two days before Apple’s ‘Welcome home’ event in New York on Tuesday, October 13, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman published a leak detailing three products: the HomeView smart home hub, a second-generation HomePod mini, and a new Apple TV 4K. The Apple HomeView leak gives the clearest yet of the company’s smart home hardware roadmap, including chips, finishes, and launch windows.

HomeView: A Touchscreen Hub in Two Forms

HomeView is a smart home hub built around a touch display. It runs on Apple’s A18 chip with 8GB of RAM and supports Siri AI voice control. Apple will offer two versions. The tabletop model sits on a metal speaker base and is said to deliver better sound than the HomePod mini. The wall-mounted version takes the form of a flat square wall plate.

Buyers will have four finishes to choose from for the tabletop model: Gray, Silver, Starlight, and Rose. The wall-mounted version is limited to Gray and Silver. Gurman reports that HomeView will be unveiled on October 13 and launch around mid-November.

On software, HomeView will include a selection of Apple apps but will not offer a third-party App Store. That limitation suggests Apple is positioning the device as a controlled hub rather than a general-purpose tablet.

Apple Home Collection and Accessory Partners

Apple is also preparing a line of smart home accessories under the Apple Home Collection name, with hardware from LG and Schneider Electric. The lineup includes a doorbell, deadbolt, thermostat, sensors, and cameras. LG’s accessories are not expected to ship before later this year at the earliest.

HomePod mini 2: S10 Chip and New Colors

The second-generation HomePod mini moves from the S5 chip to the S10 chip used in the Apple Watch Series 10. Apple will offer the speaker in five colors: green, pink, blue, white, and midnight. The HomePod mini 2 will be unveiled on October 13 and launch on Friday, October 30.

Apple TV 4K: A19 Chip and Possible Microphone Additions

The next Apple TV 4K is set to use the A19 chip with 8GB of RAM. Gurman’s report also indicates the device may include built-in microphones for Siri AI. An updated Siri Remote may follow, possibly with a built-in speaker to help users locate it. These two features remain unconfirmed. The Apple TV 4K will also be unveiled on October 13 and launch on October 30.
