Geekom has refreshed its compact A5 line with the Geekom A5 2027 Edition, a small-form-factor desktop that drops the previous Ryzen 7 5800H in favor of AMD’s Ryzen 7 7730U. The change is the headline of an otherwise familiar machine: the rose gold shell, the 0.5-liter footprint and the 117 x 112 x 49 mm dimensions all carry over untouched.

What actually changed inside

The 7730U is an eight-core, 16-thread Zen 3 part rated at 15 watts. That is a markedly lower power envelope than the chip it replaces, and a Notebookcheck review of the system reports two consequences that matter more than the spec sheet suggests: power draw and fan noise have both come down.

The trade-off is raw CPU throughput. The same review found that the new processor does not match the outgoing 5800H in straight processing performance. Buyers who mostly care about multi-threaded grunt should note that the 2027 Edition is not an upgrade in that department.

Chassis, memory and storage

Geekom has kept the Intel NUC-style form factor intact. The enclosure is plastic, but an internal metal frame adds rigidity, and the whole unit still occupies half a liter of desk space. Inside, the configuration is 16 GB of DDR4 memory paired with a 512 GB NVMe SSD. The brief does not specify memory speed, upgrade options, or the SSD model.

Ports and display support

Connectivity is unusually generous for the size. There is 2.5-Gigabit Ethernet, two HDMI outputs, six USB ports in total, and an SD card reader that supports the UHS-II standard. Two of those USB ports are Type-C and can carry DisplayPort signals, which allows the A5 to drive as many as four displays at once.

What is missing is equally deliberate. Geekom left out USB4 and Thunderbolt, and the company says the omission was made to keep the price competitive.

Graphics: fine for media, not for gaming

Integrated Radeon RX Vega 8 graphics handle media playback without trouble, but the Notebookcheck review is clear that gaming is where the chip runs out of headroom. The A5 trails the Acemagic Retro X3, which uses a Radeon 780M, and the Ninkear L20, which relies on Intel’s Arc 130V. Neither comparison flatters the Vega 8.

Pricing, discount code and warranty

Geekom lists the A5 2027 Edition at $559 in its own store, while Amazon shows $479. A discount code, NCA527FF, is valid through December 31, 2026, and takes 13 percent off at Geekom.de and 10 percent off at Amazon. Every unit carries a three-year manufacturer warranty.

Geekom positions the machine for value-conscious buyers, and the combination of a lower-power processor, a quiet chassis and a long warranty fits that pitch. It is a home-office and budget desktop first; anyone shopping primarily for frame rates should look elsewhere.
