Verizon Sets $10 Monthly Price for iPhone Handoff

Verizon plans to charge $10 per month for iPhone Handoff, the Verizon iPhone Handoff price disclosed in the carrier’s iPhone Duo announcement. The figure puts Verizon at twice the monthly rate T-Mobile already asks for the same feature. Verizon describes support as coming soon, while Apple has said Verizon would adopt Handoff before the end of the year.

What the feature does

Apple introduced iPhone Handoff in iOS 27. It lets a single phone number work across two iPhones, though only one device can have the number active at a time. Verizon customers will be able to switch which iPhone holds the active line.

Handoff requires iOS 27. Verizon says the feature works with the iPhone Duo and the iPhone 18 Pro, the two devices named in its compatibility statement.

U.S. carriers move at different speeds

T-Mobile is the only U.S. carrier with existing Handoff support. Its price is $5 per month, half of what Verizon has set. AT&T, by contrast, suggested it has no imminent plans to support the feature, leaving the largest three U.S. carriers split on availability and cost.

Verizon has not specified an exact launch date for Handoff. Whether its $10 rate includes taxes or fees is also unstated, and the carrier has not said whether any plan discounts will apply.

European pricing and free tiers

EE announced this week that it will soon support iPhone Handoff. Customers on EE’s Full Works Plus plan get the feature at no extra cost; other EE users pay £5 per month.

Deutsche Telekom is the only other carrier with support in place. It charges €6.95 monthly, but includes Handoff free on its MagentaMobil L and XL plans.

The spread of prices and inclusions shows carriers treating Handoff as a paid add-on rather than a standard part of the line. For subscribers weighing the feature, the cost depends heavily on which carrier and plan they hold — and, in AT&T’s case, on whether support arrives at all.
