Health and wellness fair opens the afternoon

The day starts with a health and wellness fair at 1 p.m. Local mental health providers, wellness organizations, community resources and fitness studios will be on hand. Attendees can learn about services available to individuals and families in the Oxford-Lafayette community.
The event is free and open to the public. Organizers say it is designed for families, Ole Miss students, alumni and community members.
Panel discussion brings athletes and a psychologist to the stage
An afternoon program will feature a panel discussion led by Elizabeth Fikes. Panelists include former Ole Miss student-athletes Kyla McLaurin, C.J. Moore and Joseph ‘JoJo’ Tann, along with Dr. Nick McAfee, a psychologist and director of the William Magee Center.
The conversation will address mental health, resilience, identity, adversity and support. David Kellum, known as the ‘Voice of the Rebels,’ will help open the program.
Rebel Hope Alliance launches with a focus on life after college sports
The event will introduce Rebel Hope Alliance, a new mental health resource created for former Ole Miss student-athletes and their immediate families. According to the organizers, the alliance is intended to provide support that extends beyond a college athletic career.
Intended for Good: The Stonewater Council for Youth organized the event to raise mental health awareness, reduce stigma and connect families to resources.
Free vouchers for early attendees
The first 1,000 attendees will receive free chicken biscuit and doughnut vouchers from Connie’s Chicken. The vouchers are available while supplies last.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 18, at the SJB Pavilion at the University of Mississippi in Oxford. The health fair begins at 1 p.m., with the panel discussion and program to follow in the afternoon.
