Carnell Tate: Titans Rookie on Preparation, Patience, and His Lego Habit

Carnell Tate arrived in the NFL with the weight of a top-five selection, and through five games the numbers have not yet matched the hype. The Tennessee Titans took the wide receiver at No. 4 overall in the 2026 NFL draft, but his rookie stat line — 23 receptions for 274 yards — reflects an offense still finding its footing as much as it reflects the player himself.

In a recent conversation with Titans Wire, the 21-year-old did not sound rattled. He described a weekly process built on film study, practice reps and music, and he returned repeatedly to a simple idea: everything takes time and requires work.

From Columbus to Nashville

Tate’s college résumé at Ohio State was not that of a volume pass-catcher. He finished his Buckeyes career with 51 receptions, 1,872 yards and 14 touchdowns, operating alongside wide receiver Jeremiah Smith and catching passes from quarterback Julian Sayin. He was a role player who did not demand the ball — a detail that helps explain why he speaks about patience as a learned habit rather than a slogan.

That patience is being tested now. The Titans’ offensive struggles have limited his production, but Tate has kept running routes and catching passes, trusting that his work will eventually show up on the stat sheet.

Preparation, Music and Consistency

Tate said his preparation throughout the week is the key to his approach. He studies film, takes his reps and listens to music before games. His philosophy is straightforward: trust your work, do your job, and understand that nothing is handed to you. Consistency, he said, is everything.

Snickers and Adidas: A Custom Cleat

Off the field, Tate has built a portfolio that includes two brand partnerships. He was a SNICKERS Ice Cream ambassador during the draft and has been an Adidas ambassador since March. Those relationships converged on a custom fit that he debuted in his Week 5 tunnel entrance.

The Adidas x Snickers collaboration produced a custom cleat — the first time the two brands have partnered on one — with ghoulish green detailing inside, timed around Halloween. Tate said he loves the collaboration and that Snickers has been his favorite candy since childhood. He wore the custom fit before the October 11 game, and Snickers plans to give the fit away to one fan through its social media channels.

Legos, Role Models and Giving Back

Tate’s free time is not all film and footwear. He builds Legos, including a five-foot Eiffel Tower set and a completed Titanic set. The hobby, he said, helps him relax and take his mind off things.

He also spoke about wanting to make an impact away from football — to be a role model and to give back. Having benefited from the support and belief of others, he said he knows how much that backing matters, particularly for younger kids.

For a 21-year-old rookie adjusting to the NFL, the through-line is clear: patience, work and consistency, on the field and off it.
