OLED iPad Mini Rumored to Carry a Steeper Price Tag

The OLED iPad mini price may land well above what shoppers pay today, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. In his Power On newsletter, Gurman reported that sources point to a meaningful increase over the current model’s $599 starting point, and he guessed the figure could sit closer to $799. That would put the gap at roughly $200.

Nothing is final. Apple has not confirmed the device, its cost or its release window, so the numbers remain rumor rather than fact.

What the price shift would mean

The $599 iPad mini has long been the smallest and least expensive route into Apple’s tablet lineup. A jump toward $799 would place the compact model much nearer to Apple’s larger, more capable tablets, changing how buyers weigh size against cost. Gurman’s sources indicate a hike is coming; the exact amount is still unconfirmed.

Hardware expected to change

The centerpiece of the update is an OLED display, a first for the iPad mini. Beyond the screen, Gurman expects an A20 Pro chip, a landscape FaceTime camera, a redesigned speaker setup and a water-resistant design. Those additions would give the small tablet a broader set of upgrades than a typical refresh.

Timing and a possible MacBook Pro companion

Gurman has previously reported that Apple could unveil the new iPad mini on or around Tuesday, October 27. He also expects the company to introduce OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro models at the same time, which would make for a busy product moment.

For now, the only firm anchor is the current $599 price. Everything else — the OLED screen, the A20 Pro chip, the camera position, the speakers, the water resistance, the launch date and the higher price — comes from Gurman’s reporting and remains subject to change.
